The Team

The Team comprises up to 50 team members who live in and around the Lothians and Scottish Borders.

As well as being on call in all weather, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, there is a significant amount of on-going training in advanced first aid, mountain and water rescue. In recent times there have been around 50-60 rescues a year, each call-out involving 12 to 20 members and taking anywhere between one hour and several days. This can only be achieved through the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of their employers.

The Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team was founded in 1973 but can trace its origins back to 1963 and the creation of the Borders Search and Rescue Unit. We remain a charity organisation that depends entirely on donations and on-going support of the public. We thank you for your help and contributions.
